The White House released a memo late Friday stating President Donald Trump is "in excellent health" following his visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for a physical exam on Tuesday.

Trump, who will turn 80 in June, has faced scrutiny around his physical health and mental acuity, and is the oldest person to be inaugurated as U.S. president. His physical composed of several tests, including cardiac, neurological, dermatologic, and mental assessments, according to White House physician Capt. Sean Barbabella.

“President Trump remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function," the president's physician wrote. "His demanding daily schedule, including multiple high-level meetings, public engagements, and regular physical activity, continues to support his overall well-being.

Barbabella noted the tissue scarring on Trump's right ear due to the injury he suffered during an assassination attempt in July 2024; slight lower leg swelling related to his chronic venous insufficiency diagnosis in 2025; and bruising on Trump’s hands “consistent with minor soft tissue irritation related to frequent handshaking in the setting of aspirin use for cardiovascular prevention.”

The White House has addressed the president's proneness to bruising due to a daily aspirin he takes.

The memo also showed that Trump gained 14 pounds since his physical in April 2025.

“Cognitive and physical performance are excellent,” he concluded. “He is fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.”
