WASHINGTON, March 10 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday the opening of an oil refinery in Brownsville, Texas and thanked Indian energy company Reliance for its investment.
Trump made the announcement on Truth Social, saying the America First Refining project would "fuel U.S. Markets, strengthen our National Security, boost American Energy production, deliver Billions of Dollars in Economic impact, and will be THE CLEANEST REFINERY IN THE WORLD."
Trump said it was a $300 billion deal, but it was not immediately clear if he meant that was part of a bigger deal with India.
In 2024 Element Fuels Holdings, a Dallas-area startup proposing to build the first all-new U.S. oil refinery in nearly 50 years, said it was relaunching efforts to build a large plant in Brownsville.
