Marjorie Taylor Greene Turns On GOP For Abandoning MAGA Base

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is on a collision course with the Republican Party as she suggested it has abandoned President Donald Trump’s MAGA base.

In an interview with the Daily Mail published on Saturday, the one-time Trump loyalist made clear her frustration with the GOP’s direction.

“I think the Republican Party has turned its back on ‘America First’ and the workers and just regular Americans,” she reportedly said, adding she feared for the party’s drift back to its “neocon” past influenced by the “good ole boys” network.

Greene, who did not criticize Trump but said she was “not afraid” of Speaker Mike Johnson, signaled her unhappiness with continued overseas aid spending, the end of Elon Musk-style federal government cost-cutting and failing to bring down the cost-of-living.

“Like what happened to all those issues?” she said. “You know that I don’t know what the hell happened with the Republican Party. I really don’t.”

She added: “But I’ll tell you one thing, the course that it’s on, I don’t want to have anything to do with it, and I, I just don’t care anymore.”

Greene, who has ruled herself out of a run against Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) in the 2026 midterms, hinted at a deep split within Republican ranks.

“I don’t know if the Republican Party is leaving me, or if I’m kind of not relating to Republican Party as much any more,” Greene said. “I don’t know which one it is.”

On Monday, Greene, who last week became the first congressional Republican to label the growing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip a “genocide,” appeared to suggest unease specifically with Trump.

In a post on X, the 51-year-old shared a table showing no arrests for a series of Trump talking points, including “Biden Autopen,” “2020 Election” and “Epstein Pedophile Arrests.”

Greene wrote, “Don’t talk about it if you aren’t going to do it.”

The Trump administration has faced criticism from within the MAGA orbit over a failure to release more details on the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking investigation as promised.

Greene has previously warned Trump that “dangling bits of red meat” on Epstein will no longer do.

In another post on her official House account on Monday, she took issue with a Trump message on his Truth Social platform that promised sanctions on India for selling oil to Russia.

She wrote: “End Indian H1-B visas replacing American jobs instead and stop funding and sending weapons to the Obama/Biden/Neocon Ukraine Russia war.”
