Elon Musk joined Donald Trump for dinner during a packed weekend for the president, who was hosting meetings at Mar-a-Lago as his administration announced a US military operation in Venezuela.

Trump said on Saturday that the US had captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, a move that drew swift international reaction.

In a post on X on Sunday, Musk wrote that he had "a lovely dinner" with Trump and first lady Melania Trump, adding: "2026 is going to be amazing!"

The photo posted on X shows the three of them seated at a dinner table, chatting. The dinner took place on Saturday evening at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, according to Fox News.

The dinner comes after a very public cooling of relations between Trump and Musk last year.

In November, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO attended a White House dinner with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman — his first public appearance at the White House since falling out with Trump in June. The guest list included several top executives.

After the dinner, Musk shared photos on X showing himself with the crown prince, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and Trump. "I would like to thank President Trump for all he has done for America and the world," Musk wrote.

In September, the two were spotted shaking hands at a memorial service for political activist Charlie Kirk, marking their first public interaction since their alliance collapsed.

The Musk-Trump feud

The relationship between the two publicly unraveled in June, shortly after Musk stepped away from his role as the de facto head of the White House's DOGE Office.

Before the fallout, Musk was one of Trump's most visible and influential allies. He described himself as Trump's "first buddy" after the president's election win.

Musk later played a central role in the administration's effort to cut government spending before leaving the post in May.

Tensions escalated after Musk criticized Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill," prompting a public back-and-forth between the two men. Musk said Trump owed his presidential election win to him, while Trump threatened to pull government contracts held by Musk's companies.

In July, Musk said he would launch a new political party called the "America Party."

"Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom," Musk wrote in an X post. Trump fired back on his Truth Social platform, saying Musk had gone "completely off the rails."
